Lucky Luke

image

Hi there! I’m Lucky Luke, a one yr old Pit Bull Dogo Argentino mix. I was found as a stray and my owner never claimed me so here I am looking for a new forever home to call my own. I’m a high energy pooch in need of basic training and plenty of regular exercise.

I’m very sweet and loving. I get along great with other dogs. I’m bright and eager to please. I was rather insecure when I was first rescued but have learned to trust people and now enjoy meeting strangers when out on walks.

I have an excellent temperament. I need a structured stable home where I can continue to thrive and become the terrific dog I was meant to be. I need to be on a grain-free diet as I am prone to food allergies.image

Chaos

image

My name is Chaos and I guess it’s due to my energy level as a young pup. However I am no young pup, but in fact a senior dog. I’m actually 10 years old and still very healthy and quite active. You could say the name still suits me. My story is sad, I was kicked out of my house because a baby was born and mom decided she didn’t want any drool or hair or traces of my presence in sight. I have a huge mass on one of my knees that Sophie had asked my family to have removed, but because it’s esthetic, not a health issue and could not be done at the time of sterilization (yea I was just now neutered), they did not want to spend the $500 dollars on what they considered unnecessary. So if money can be raised Sophie will have it removed, if not I may have it for the rest of my life. I’m good with other dogs, NOT good with cats and quite strong and would probably knock children over. However I’m not at all aggressive, I’m all about affection, love and kisses. I may be ten but healthy as I am, I could very well live into my teens.

Boadicea

image

Not much is known about me, but one thing for sure is I’m a fighter. That’s why I’ve been named Boadicea, I was pulled off death row from one of these horrible gas chambers and have vowed to fight back and survive. I’m probably about three years old and definitely a mutt, your guess is as good as anyone else’s.

So far I’ve proven to be a great gal, well behaved, quick learner and very friendly. I’m good with other dogs, and would probably do well with kids.

I’m now looking for a castle to move into and I would love to share it with you.

Bucky

image

My name’s Bucky but they call me Cowboy!  I’m a bit of a cowboy when it comes to other dogs.  You see I was bounced and sometimes missed several meals, so if you’re a dog, you’d better not approach when I’m eating or I’ll pin you down!  However, I trust that humans will not take away what they gave me, so no protection towards my stuff with people.

I am about 1 year and a half, and already had 4 homes.  So my 5th better be my last, as I want to finally settle down.  After all, I like girl dogs quite a bit, so a nice lady friend would make my life sweet! Right now I’m pretty macho, so males – need to check that out some more.

As all pitbulls, I am VERY sweet with humans, once I learn some good manners (and I’m very eager to please), I would probably love having kids to play with and protect.  All in all, I need to be socialized with other dogs, taught some basics, learn to be a well-balanced boy, but most of all a stable and structured environment.

Give me a chance to show you my potential, all I need is love, patience, understanding and commitment and I will be forever grateful.image

Bronson

image

I’m Bronson, and was taken off deathrow from the SPCA Montreal, where they thought me “too intense”. And Pit Stop said I didn’t look “pit” enough and dark brindled pit mixes were not popular so they would not take me under their wing.  Thank God Sophie knew about me and took me out, as I truly am a wonderful dog.  I am a young male, just under 1 year old, with a big love for life. The guess is my mix is Boxer Pitbull of sorts. I do that butt wiggle thing that both breeds do so well, and I have a fabulous smile.  And let’s not forget my beautiful, round, brown eyes!  and wait, those kisses I LOVE to give too!  Let’s just say I’ll melt your heart.

I’m in terrific shape and I have a lot of energy. I need an active person or family because I’m no couch potato. Don’t get me wrong…..snuggling with you on the couch is my favorite thing in the world but us big boys need regular exercise of course.

I received some training and know several commands (in French) and hand commands. I’m a super bright pooch. To know me is to simply fall in love with me. I walk well with a halti but will be working more on walking well on a leash just because it’s the right thing to do!  I so much want to please my new family so I never end up tied to a tree and dumped again.

My ideal home would be one with experience and time to invest in my continued training. If you want a partner to go biking, jogging, roller-blading, then I’m the guy for you.  And a plus – I love other dogs! Kids would be great too, but I am a bit of a brute when I get excited, so no toddlers for me!

Princess 2

I’m the most beautiful Princess you’ll meet.  I’m a young and loving 3 year old, petite American Staffordshire Terrier (pitbull) who is desperately seeking a wonderful home.

I had a bit of a rough start, I am very timid and extremely submissive, but with time I have started to come out of my shell and become a much more assertive dog.  I am hoping to live with kids, as all of us pitbulls usually LOVE children. And a plus for my breed is that I get along with other dogs very well. Cats, well let’s say I was attacked by one in foster care and I don’t care for them too much anymore.

I need some structure and some training, but I am so eager to please and so very smart that it will take no time at all in a stable home to become the best dog ever!

Please be my Knight in shining armor, and I will be your Princess forever!

Luna 4

I’m Luna 4, a sweet Pitbull who’s already had two litters at the age of 1 and a half. I’ve already had several homes and my last owner went to jail so I went to a friend who gave me to his friend who gave me to another friend who’s mother afraid of me.

So here I am with Sophie’s Dog Adoption where I am hoping to find that last, forever, wonderful home I’ve been dreaming of since I started to walk.

Despite my bouncing around I have remained a typical loving and charming Pitbull, I all want is love and kisses.

Tyson v. Montreal (T.K.O 1-0)

“Tyson 4” the Pitbull wins the first and biggest round against the City of Montreal in Superior Court. The City of Montreal wanted to euthanize “Tyson 4” because he bit and injured another dog. First the City ordered a 90 day muzzle order, only to replace said order one week later for a euthanasia order. The City claimed it would seize “Tyson 4” after 72 hours if he wasn’t executed. Of course Sophie didn’t comply, told the City they would need to find him, while they replied with the threat of daily fines for each day his execution wasn’t proven, as they gave Sophie the option to select the method of euthanasia (her own vet)  versus sending him to the Berger Blanc.

Knowing the City of Montreal “had” the power to seize without a warrant signed by a Judge to authorize such search & seizure, Sophie made “Tyson 4” jump (hidden on the Island, yet out of the City’s reach). Sophie filed a Motion in Superior Court asking the Courts to « DECLARE unconstitutional the sections of the City of Montreal By-Law concerning Dog and Animal Control, R.B.C.M. c. C-10, notably sections 12, 16, 18, 19, 20 and 22, which empower officials of the Respondent to enter a domicile and/or seize or euthanize a dog without warrant or due process ; » accompanied with a Stay of Execution against the euthanasia order so that “Tyson 4” could come out of hiding.

The first Judge allowed the case against the City, and issued an order that Sophie could take “Tyson 4” out of hiding for as long as he wore a muzzle at all times when in public or around other dogs, until his trial date. The second Judge, “trial Judge” heard the case which lasted 2 days and ruled in favor of “Tyson 4”, setting a precedent against the City of Montreal.

CONCLUSION

[137] In conclusion, the Tribunal want’s to underline that the case isn’t about if the dog is a danger to the public. That decision would be up to the municipal authorities. All tough before issuing such order, the City does need to respect the fundamental rules found in the Civil and Penal Code of Procedures, which wasn’t done in this present case.

[138] The Tribunal is therefore sensitive of the facts that Tyson’s behavior does justify the worries the City has. The Tribunal therefore takes notice of the agreement that Sophie is willing to keep the dog muzzled at all times when he is outside of his residence. For this agreement to be upheld, Sophie won’t be allowed to adopt out or dispose of “Tyson 4”.

FOR THESE REASONS, THE COURT :

[139] WELCOMES in part the motion;

[140] SQUASHES the euthanasia order issued in virtue of article 19 of By-Law concerning Dog and Animal Control, R.B.C.M. c. C-10, issued on the 14th of July 2010 targeting the male dog named “Tyson 4”;

[141] SQUASHES the fines issued to the Plaintiff for not having conformed to this euthanasia order within the delayed time;

[142] ORDERS the Plaintiff to comply with her agreement to keep the dog muzzled at all times when he is outside of his residence and ORDERS her to conform to it;

[143] ORDERS the Plaintiff not to get rid of the dog in question;

[144] DECLARES  invalid and null the words « saisir au domicile de son gardien » found in articles 12, 16, 25, 29 of the Règlement sur le contrôle des chiens et autres animaux (R.R.V.M. c. C-10);

With this jurisprudence, why hasn’t the City re-written it’s By-Law? They keep issuing these bogus letters claiming to be legal euthanasia orders, when in fact it’s not even worth the paper it’s printed on.

Sophie now decided to sue the City of Montreal $25 a day for the boarding fees incurred while “Tyson 4” was in hiding. The City refused to pay a $3,000 bill without knowing where “Tyson 4” was boarded. That is not for them to know, so a Judge will decide if the City has a right to know or not. Sophie is now asking for $6,000, $3,000 in fees, another $3,000 in punitive damages for a violation of her Human Rights.

The City claims this Judgement is only applicable for Tyson 4’s case, and therefore not valid towards any other euthanasia order the City is handing out.  With that said, Sophie has offered help for those willing to fight the City in Court. Since this Judgement, we are aware of 3 other cases that might end up in Superior Court against the City.

Chiko

Hello there! I’m Chiko. You may have seen my photo and heard about my sad story on the news this last Summer. I was found in a very emaciated state (see photo 3 ) by 2 good Samaritans who decided to take me home. I was obviously a victim of neglect. I’m now 10 months old and full of energy. Although the couple who rescued me fell madly in love with me, they realize that they lack the experience and time required to take care of me properly. Their wish for me is to find the perfect home where I will get the exercise and training I need. Right now, I lack education but my desire to learn is obvious.

I’m a real love nugget but I have not been taught manners around other dogs and I have a lot of energy I need to release. Regular exercise like daily long walks is very important for my well-being. I spent most of my young life confined to a crate, unable to move, my mouth tied shut it would seem based on my scar and was starved. Imagine how much I love to be free now! I need a calm and confident leader who will understand my needs but not feel sorry for me . I need someone to provide me with structure and of course, much love. I’m neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped.

Alysha

Hi there! I’m Alysha, a Pitbull mix. Not sure what the other breed(s) is but it looks like maybe Shepherd and Boxer. I’m a very pretty brindled girl with one white paw so it looks like I’m wearing one sock. My nose is rather long and my legs are too so I am not just Pit Bull, that’s for sure.

I get along famously with other dogs and cats. I live with several of them right now in my foster home. I can stay home alone. I won’t cry or bark. I have no problem going in a crate while you’re away for a few hours. I’m really a terrific puppy. I need to get a good sniff of strangers before I feel good about being petted. If people come right up to me too quickly, I will back away. I’m meeting new people every day and have made many new friends. Once I know you, I become your new best friend.

I will be spayed and vaccinated shortly. I already know the basic commands and ask for the door when nature calls. Being still a baby now though, I cannot hold it in all night so pipi pads are needed for me then.

Ernestine

Hello there! I’m Ernestine. A young rust colored red-nosed female American Pitbull Terrier. I apologize for that little bit of drool on my pics. I had just been taken out of a car and had gotten a little sick from all the commotion. Once I got out and met with my new friend Annie the canine educator, I relaxed and went for a quick run with her. She was very impressed with how well I followed her lead and responded to commands to stop, sit and stay.

I sure aim to please and she said I was a brilliant dog. I never once tried to jump up on her despite her giving me a whole of excited affection to test me. I did shower her with kisses since that’s the way us Pit Bulls respond to much appreciated affection and she really liked my kisses.

My rescuer Sophie knew I was special since she decided to save my life despite already being completely full with other dogs people dumped like yesterday’s garbage and ended up under her care. She made sure to make room for me. I was on my way to this awful high kill pound called the Berger Blanc. God knows what would have happened to me if I ended up there! I get along with other dogs, cats and I sure love people a whole lot. Very typical of my breed. We are extremely loving, bright and eager to please. My foster home reports that I am simply perfect.

Lola 3

image

My name is Lola 3, I was found as a stray and no one came looking for me. I am about 1 year old, maybe less, and probably a Boxer mix.

I am very sweet, but don’t have much manners yet, so a lot of learning to do. However, I’m a very sweet girl, a little excited around other pets, but not a mean girl at all. I just need someone who can structure me, give me some basic obedience, be patient and help me learn how to be a well adjusted, well socialized dog.

My eagerness to please is admirable and I’m very bright. If you think you could be that person/family, contact my people. They need an experienced foster or permanent home for me asap. * Because I appear to have some Pit Bull in me, it is important that I be placed in an area where there is no breed specific legislation in place. I don’t have the standard wide Pit Bull jaw and head BUT if I look like a Pit Bull, then I will be seen as a Pit Bull. Many very uneducated people out there fear this breed sadly. So, as a precaution, we’re saying I’m part Pit Bull but chances are I am not. Regardless….I’m a great girl either way. Hope you’re not the kind to discriminate against this highly unjustly persecuted breed. Dogs are dogs! We all need the same thing….your love and devotion.image

Tyler

My name is Tyler, I’m a Pitbull puppy, born around mid November 2010, and by the age of five weeks was taken away and put in a new home. That didn’t last very long as two weeks later I was already looking for another home.

I’m a male, obviously Pitbull mix, but not sure with what. Of course I’m all cute, fun and adorable, but there is a devil side to me because I really didn’t start off with the right socialization.

Presently I’m getting some basic education at a school so that I can be well behaved when I start my new life.

Puppies are a challenge, and Pitbulls have a stigma, so if you want to adopt me be ready to fully commit. I do not want to be a statistic who is returned after a couple of years.

Tyson 4 – In November

  • October 28th, 2010 – Sophie wins a Stay of execution on my death sentence in Superior Court. The order is temporarily suspended until the case is heard. I’m free to go home with a strict court order forcing me to be muzzled at all times in public. First half of the battle is over with.
  • November 2nd, 2010 – Sophie drives out of town to get me out of hiding after nearly 4 months. I am free as a bird and can enjoy a normal foster life until Superior Court decides if the city’s power to have an innocent victim like me killed is in fact legal. I’m confident that Sophie will win the other half of the battle.

For now I’m enjoying the city life, with a wonderful bunch of people who give me belly rubs, rub behind my ears, give me kisses, hugs, and shower me with love. They say I’m exceptional and totally understand why Sophie is fighting so hard to keep me alive. Of course I wear that darn muzzle the minute I leave the apartment, but since my foster home has no pets I can truly enjoy a normal life. The muzzle will be part of my life forever and I will learn that putting it on means going for a walk.

The city asked the courts that I not be put up for adoption until this is settled, but Sophie would apply to the Superior Judge for that permission if there was a potential adopter. Keep in mind my problem has nothing to do with aggression, simply a lack of knowing how to interact with other dogs, so Sophie is convinced that she will win since I was evaluated by a professional who confirms I am no threat, danger, nor risk to any human.

Ideally Sophie would love for a lawyer to adopt me, so they could help her fight this to ensure a win. I really don’t want to die.

Sunshine

It’s been almost five months since I delivered my 7 little Rays, and have now gotten most of my shape back. I am now known as Sunny and have been adopted by my foster home who just couldn’t let me go.

The best thing is that my “grand parents” adopted my little Rayko, so I will see him grow up and forever remain his Mom. We don’t live in the same city, but we will see each other during the holidays, vacations, etc…

I have turned into a beautiful and happy girl, that butt of mine is constantly doing the wiggle. One thing I have learned to love is butter. I guess I felt too skinny for a long time so a little butter helped me put on the weight.

Ryan & Bryan

While Sophie was having her yearly reunion and celebrating her 50th Birthday, we were being born.

We are Ryan and Bryan, two Pitbull pups born around September 12th, and at barely 8 weeks of age, we were already destined to be put down.

Just like Riana and Briana, we were to be drowned, as this seems to be the new way to get rid of unwanted or unsold puppies in this demented society humans live in.

Obviously being Pitbulls, we are cute and adorable puppies, but we will grow up to become adult Pitbulls so Sophie will be very picky once potential adopters come forward, since adopting a Pitbull is nothing like adopting a Golden Retriever, mostly because of the stigma that comes with being a Pitbull. Make sure you’re ready for that 15 year commitment before even considering making us a member of your family, we don’t want to be statistics.

Tyson 4 – In October

Whoo hoo! I’m off the Island of Montreal, enjoying the country side, the green pastures, the hills around me, the clean fresh cool air surrounding my new temporary hiding place. Sophie has not yet given up and despite the outrages amounts of money that I’m costing her, she will not let me down.

She knew that keeping me in solitary confinement in a tiny cell was driving me nuts more and more, as whenever she came for my daily outing, I was more and more hyper and excited to see her because I was getting restless. Now I can run, sniff the grass, lift my leg here and there and interact with wonderful, caring, loving people who can actually play with me and throw a ball around for me to run after and stretch them legs. I have lost a lot of muscle mass in the last 90 days and this will give me the chance to get some back.

Hopefully by the end of this month I will be back in Montreal, at Sophie’s (unless a foster home comes through) and no longer have to hide as Sophie not only promised me she would get this death sentence removed, things are actually in motion as she’s taking the City to Superior Court in order to have a Judge make a decision that will remove this power the City bullies have to kill a sweet guy like me just on the grounds that I’m a Pitbull. So I’m crossing everything I can cross and cant wait to hear from Sophie in ten days from now. If she doesn’t win this on Friday, she will need more money to keep me here until round II, even though it’s more expensive then where I was before, this like heaven compared to that.

Raylen

My turn has also come. I’m now being adopted on the same day as my other sister Raynelle. Even though my name is Raylen, my foster home had nicknamed me Albert, so I’m not sure what I’ll end up being called.

My new family has kids, so that’s gonna be a lot of fun for me as well as for them since we will be growing up together. I’m already 40lbs, not yet 4 months old, so I’m pretty sure I’m growing faster then them. So they better not bully me around, cause I’m the one with some bull mastiff in my genes. And by looking at me right now, it’s obvious I take more after Dad than my tiny Mom. Oh and I’m the biggest of the family and proud to be, everyone says what a gorgeous boy.

Raynelle

I’m finally in my new home. I’m not sure if I will keep the name Raynelle, but I’m happy to have my own loving family and regardless of what they call me, I will love it.

I’m living on the outskirts of Montreal, in a beautiful home in what I consider the countryside.  The scenery is beautiful, the trees are colorful, the air is clean and soon it will be all white. This will be my first snow and I’m so looking forward to playing in it with my new family.
